Cambodia Gambling Dens

There is a captivating history to the Cambodia casinos that reside just across the border from neighboring Thailand, where gambling den gaming is not permitted. Eight gambling dens are established in a generally tiny space in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling halls is in a prime spot, a 3 to 4 hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest gaming centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The astonishing capital gained from the casinos ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over 12.5 million, and there are a couple of limitations requirements for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mainly Thai; still, financing sources are vague. The borders are ceremoniously open from 0900 to 5:00 p.m., and although visas are for all intents and purposes necessary to cross, there are methods and means around this, as is accurate of many borders.

The first Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving only a single gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored boat casino, features 150 slot machine games and sixty gaming tables. The Naga river boat never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, four tables of chemin de fer, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon followed. There are 150 slot machine games and five tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slots and sixty eight table games at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features three hundred one armed bandits and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and 96 table games, including 87 baccarat (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machines and 66 of the common tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, again in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slots and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a comprehensive vacation and hotel compound that features a number of amenities accompanying the casino, which offers 10,000 sq.ft. of 130 slots and eighty eight tables.
